Southwold’s U9 team beat Brooke in a play-off quarter-final on Wednesday, and in doing so reached the semi-final of their Norfolk Cricket Alliance group, where they will meet Horsford CC.
Brooke were the favourites going into the match, but a full team effort from Southwold took them to a score of 74/3. All of the boys batted sensibly and put high prices on their wickets – yet Harry Barbrook’s six was the highlight. Reuben, Ollie, Noah and Oscar all batted well as they showed how much they have improved over the year.
In the field, Finley Barbrook took three wickets – whilst Harry took two in two balls, before a run out off the third ball completed a team hattrick. Joab Carr took the other wicket as he bowled well, whilst Ryan Bland kept wicket excellently. The whole team fielded and bowled really well as Southwold completed an upset with a total team effort.
Their semi-final, away at Horsford, is next Thursday.
